Interested in campaigns but not sure if it's for you? Frances Dunn, a Coventry University Student, developed the Mental Health Week 10-15 October) through CUSU. She explains why she chose to campaign and why you might want to get involved too.
Why campaign at CUSU? There could be many reasons. Maybe it’s because you care and are passionate about a cause. Maybe you want to celebrate something, raise awareness, get people thinking and talking, keep people healthy, hold some fun events or you just want to try and make a difference.
These were my reasons for getting involved. I wanted to plan a campaign because the cause, Mental Health Awareness Week (10-15 October), was important and close to my heart. My main goals were to help eradicate stigma and to let people know what local services were available should people need support. So have you got a reason? What are your goals? CUSU can help make your campaign a reality like they did for me. For me it wasn’t “why campaign?” but “why not?!”
Getting involved in campaigns looks good on your CV, is a good way to meet new people and is a great way to get involved in your Students’ Union and the University.
