Embrace orginiality and you could win big. Mediocre Minds Think Alike is a chance for you to embrace originality, understand the University's new plagiarism policy and have some fun doing new and interesting things with other students.
What is Plagiarism?
Plagiarism is the academic term for copying someone else’s work but not saying you’ve done so, meaning you’re passing it off as your own. Typical examples are copying significant amounts of material from texts with little or no alteration or cutting and pasting material from the internet, without citing the source. You must learn the correct way to reference your work and cite your sources properly.
Collusion is also something you need to be aware of and consider before submitting work. Whilst the University encourages you to work with other students, producing the same piece of work and then attempting to present it as if it were entirely your own is not acceptable and could lead to you being expelled from the University. Collusion may also be suspected when one student copies from another with or without their knowledge. If you are in any doubt about producing group work ask your module tutor for clarification.
If The University finds that you have plagiarised, you may be asked to leave the University. You won’t receive a refund, you won’t get a degree from Coventry University and you may have problems working in academia if you choose it as a career option…so you need to take this very seriously.
