Hi I am Liah, your Vice President Welfare. I am here to represent your concerns, needs and interests as well as campaign for issues on your behalf.

Welfare is a large remit that incorporates many aspects that will affect your time here in Coventry. At university you may face all sorts of problems and you may need to turn to someone who can point you in the right direction.

It is my job to initiate various campaigns in the union, which range from educational to awareness raising, such as Housing Week, One World Week and Sexual Health and Guidance Week (SHAG Week).

I am also here to promote our Hate Crime Reporting Centre where students can report any racial, religious, or homophobic actions against them.

On the flipside I work pro-actively with minority students to support them, get equality and to ensure their voices are heard.

I also endorse our independent Student Union Advice Centre. There are many issues that they can advise and help you with including; accommodation; personal safety; finance and debt management; complaints; plagiarism; employment rights; diversity issues and much more.

I am here to liaise with local community groups, the local council and external agencies. I work with the University to improve standards of safety and accommodation on campus. I work locally and nationally to make sure that students get value for money, better standards of living and fair treatment at every level of their education.

Get engaged in our campaigns, get educated on your rights as a student and get involved in your Union.
