Language Tutoring

The Language Tutoring scheme places volunteers in local secondary schools, to support the teaching of Modern Foreign Languages. Supporting a qualified teacher, you will assist with the teaching of pupils in the classroom and with 1-2-1 and group based learning. 

Volunteering Opportunity

  • To take part in this scheme, volunteers must be competent in a modern foreign 
    language usually; French, German, Italian and/or Spanish. The role gives volunteers a great opportunity to develop their teaching skills assisting a qualified MFL teacher and supporting all 
    elements of pupil language development.
  • Volunteers must commit to a minimum of 2 hours a week to undertake this position. The placement will begin in the Spring term and will last a minimum of 10 weeks from January onwards.

Where and When

  • Local primary and secondary schools in Coventry.
  • A minimum of 2 hours per week for 10 weeks at a mutually agreed time between the volunteer and the school, in the Spring term from January onwards.


  • Register with us before Tuesday 19th November 2013.
  • A DBS (formerly CRB or Criminal Records) check which we will process for you.
  • A good level of spoken and written English.
  • Competency in a Modern Foreign Language.
  • Reliability
  • Enthusiasm for working with children.
