CANVAS Accommodation Bursary
This year, CANVAS Coventry are offering a year of free accomodation to Estranged Students studying at Coventry University or CU Coventry. If your application is successful, you will be allocated a Bronze En-Suite Room based at Canvas Coventry. You MUST be an estranged student to apply. This is a limited bursary (one place available), which will be awarded by CUSU based on a two-stage application process.
To apply, you will first need to complete our online application form. Your application should demonstrate how you meet the eligibility criteria and tell us about your motivations for study at Coventry University/CU Coventry. In your application, you should include information on your experience as an estranged young person. We are particularly interested in understanding how the housing opportunity will benefit you and your student experience whilst at Coventry University/CU Coventry.
Successful applicants will be invited to attend a short individual interview with our Vice President for Welfare and Inclusion and a CUSU staff member. The interview will focus on the information you have provided in your application. and no preperation will be required.

What is the eligibility criteria?
To apply for the bursary you must meet the following criteria:
- a) Be a UK domiciled Undergraduate/Foundation applicant with a confirmed offer on a Coventry University or CU Coventry course OR a current Undergraduate student studying at Coventry University or CU Coventry.
- b) You must be aged 25 or under on 13th September 2021 .
- c) You must be assessed as independent due to estrangement by your funding provider (e.g. Student Finance England).
- d) You must be enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student at Coventry University by 13th September 2021.
- e) You must be a home student in receipt of or applying for student finance for day to day living costs (Maintenance Loan).
- f) You must be able to provide evidence that your estrangement has been accepted by your student funding body.
How do I apply?
Candidates should first check that they meet the criteria set out above. To apply, you MUST be an estranged student. Any applicants who do not meet these criteria will not be considered.

When will I know if my application is successful?
The outcome of the interview will be communicated via email by 10th August 2021. The successful applicant will need to confirm their acceptance of the bursary by 20th August 2021.

As a successful applicant, you will be asked to sign a Tenancy Agreement to secure your accomodation. Once you have entered into a Tenancy Agreement with Canvas® you will be bound by the conditions of that Tenancy Agreement which is governed and administered under English Law. You will have the opportunity to read the terms and conditions applicable to the Tenancy Agreement before you signify your acceptance of them. If you do not understand the terms and conditions of the Tenancy Agreement you are encouraged to speak to the Student Union Advice Centre who can help.
