Inviting speakers for your society is a great idea and can add a lot of value to your society and event. They could be from a graduate recruitment firm, from your culture or background, a guest lecturer or someone from the local community.
For the purposes of the policy, a guest speaker is anyone speaking to your society who is not a current student, university staff member or CUSU staff member.
When getting a guest speaker in to talk to your society, you need to complete the guest speaker form, complying with the guest speaker policy, which can be found below.
It is best practice to fill in the form with as much advance as possible, do not wait until a room booking is confirmed, set a firm date set. The sooner you hand the form in, the sooner we can start the process that needs to be completed to authorise the guest to speak on campus.
IT IS COMPULSORY FOR GUEST SPEAKER FORMS TO BE SUBMITTED SIX WORKING WEEKS IN ADVANCE; THIS IS A UNIVERSITY AND UNION REQUIREMENT AND WILL NOT BE OVERLOOKED.
Guest Speaker Policy. Please read it carefully and ensure you comply with the requirements.
