Step Up

It's time to step up and make change.

Work with CUSU and receive funding of up to £250 to launch your sustainability project or idea with our Step Up sustainability fund.

Applications are welcome throughout the year, but as a limited fund, we recommend applying as soon as possible. You can apply for up to £250 for your project. If you have any questions, feel free to email the Community & Inclusion team.

Your Project

Any project which focuses on sustainability is welcome, but we recommend ensuring that your project aligns with at least one of our 8 aims. Check out our guide on developing your idea.

About the Fund

Project Aims

The 'Step Up' fund has 8 aims that your student project should try to meet. You do not have to meet all the aims, but your project should align with at least one of the below:  

  • Engaging students in climate justice and environmental sustainability 
  • Creating a lasting change on campus
  • Creating a lasting change in the wider community 
  • Improving student health and wellbeing
  • Improving responsible consumption and production amongst students and/or the university
  • Reducing environmental harm or damage 
  • Reducing inequalities faced by students and/or the wider community 
  • Raising awareness and educating students on how to live more sustainably
