CUSU CU Scarborough Awards 2020

The annual CUSU CU Scarborough Awards return for 2020.

These awards give us the opportunity to shout about your many successes at CUSU and CU Scarborough over the past year.

 

The Awards

Nominations are open! You may nominate any number of students and staff for any number of awards.

Academic Staff Member of the Year

This member of staff will have shown a dedication to motivating and inspiring students to reach their full potential by showcasing they are enthusiastic and passionate about the subject they teach. They will have shared their own experiences and/or research to enhance the learning of students whilst being easy to approach and helpful to students. The nominees for this award will have provided clear and well-structured feedback to students which is easy to understand and beneficial for future learning.

Contribution to CUSU CU Scarborough

CUSU CU Scarborough offers a range of opportunities for students to take part in co-curricular skills development whether that be volunteering, fundraising, taking part in a society, taking part in democratic structures amongst many other things. This award will recognise someone who has played a role in multiple of these areas showcasing dedication to developing themselves through CUSU CU Scarborough. This student may also have played a vital part in the growth of CUSU CU Scarborough.

Professional Services Staff Member of the Year

Staff across CU Scarborough make a telling contribution to a students’ experience. This award recognises those staff who are not part of delivering core curriculum. They may be from the core professional services team such as IT, library or student support or may also be those from the helpdesk team and marketing department through to the café staff. The key aspect of this award is that they will have made a key contribution to our student body through their role and have regularly gone above and beyond in their work. The nominations will be received from students.

Rising Star Award

This award will go to a first year undergraduate, foundation or access student who has shown dedication to their course academically so far. They will be considered as a hard-working, dedicated student who has shown the capability to succeed with their studies going forward. They will have been committed to their academic experiences whilst showing the capability to excel in other areas. This award will be nominated by members of staff. 

Undergraduate Student of the Year

This award recognises the excellence of a second or third year student who has excelled academically. They will have achieved outstanding grades throughout the year and shown dedication to their studies through engagement in seminars, tutorials and lectures. They will be well regarded academically by both academic staff and their fellow students. They may also have attended or contributed to conference proceedings, other student’s projects and external course related competitions.

Senior Course Rep of the Year

Student representation is a vital role in the success of any University environment. The students nominated for this award will have gone above and beyond in order to ensure that students’ views are represented at various levels of the University and within CUSU. This student will have pushed positive change throughout the University. They will have had made an impacts in terms of recruitment and promotion within the rep system and have ensured all voices are heard during forum meetings. This award can be nominated by both staff and students.

Course Rep of the Year

Student representation is a vital role in the success of any University environment. The students nominated for this award will have gone above and beyond in order to ensure that students’ views are represented at various levels of the University and within CUSU. This student will have pushed positive change throughout the University. The will have shown dedication to the role through high attendance, engagement and effort. This award can be nominated by both staff and students.
