There are seven full-time Officer positions available. Four are Group roles that will sit on the Board of Trustees and have responsibility for students and activity across the Group (Coventry, London, Scarborough, Poland). Three are Coventry roles that just work for students based on Coventry (Coventry University, Coventry and CU Coventry).
The face of students across the Coventry University Group. They lead on policy-making, campaigning, and representation.
The President represents CUSU members (Coventry University Group students) to the University and external audiences at all levels. They uphold the democratic principles and obligations of Coventry University Students’ Union and ensure that these are implemented across the activities of the organisation.
They provide leadership for Coventry University Students’ Union in policy-making, campaigning, representation; and are a public facing spokesperson for Coventry University Students’ Union and all its activities. They play a key role in the relationship between Coventry University Students’ and the Trustee Board and represent the student voice at the University Board of Governors.
Vice President Education Group
They represent the academic interests of all students. They lead course representatives to support change at the highest levels of the University.
The Vice President for Education represents the educational interests of all Coventry University Group students. They are responsible for leading 1000+ course representatives across our campuses. They go out and about speaking to students to collect their feedback on issues and ideas that come up throughout the academic year, taking their thoughts on board and working together with them.
The rest of their time is spent working on achieving the aims of their manifesto and representing CUSU and students at meetings to ensure the student voice is heard. These include the Students' Union Trustee Board, meeting regularly with the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Education and Students and Provost, representing students on the University Board of Governors, Academic Affairs Sub-committee, Academic Board and the Quality in Learning and Teaching Committee (QUILT). The role works closely with School and Campus Education Officers.
Vice President Activities Group
They create success for Societies and their members at all campuses. They lead on Student Media and Sustainability campaigning.
This role is responsible for gathering the views of students, representing them to the University attending important meetings in the process and leading the 130+ societies and the Student Media. The role involves working on achieving the aims of your manifesto and attending meetings. These meetings will include attending the Students' Union Board of Trustees, societies committee and having a range of meetings with local and national organisations.
A large part of the role is also spent speaking to members about issues within Student Activities throughout the academic year. You'll take their views on board and work together with them to create change.
Vice President Welfare and Inclusion Group
They speak to students and ensure their issues and concerns are shared with the highest levels of the University. They lead on housing, safety, advice and inclusion campaigns. They ensure students find success as volunteers.
Over 2,000 students use SU Advice services, 2,000+ students are involved with the Students Union’s Volunteering department and 100’s of students get involved in equity and diversity campaigns each year. We’re looking for a student to help lead these areas, and provide fresh ideas, making sure the welfare needs of our students are met across our campuses and online.
You will be responsible for going out and speaking to students and finding out about their experience. You will also work on achieving the aims of your manifesto and attend a variety of meetings. These meetings will range from leading the Students' Union Welfare and Inclusion Forum to sitting on the University's Equality and Diversity Committee, Catering Contract Committee and meeting with a range of local and national organisations.
Postgraduate Officer Coventry
The advocate for the postgraduate experience. They lead on academic, social and support for postgraduate students.
The Postgraduate Officer leads 100+ postgraduate course representatives at Coventry. They work with the Postgraduate Research Officer and lead the Postgraduate Student Community. They spend part of their time speaking to postgraduate students to collect their views about issues that come up throughout the academic year, taking their thoughts on board and working together with the students.
The rest of their time is spent working on achieving the aims that they put in their manifesto and attending meetings to ensure the student voice is represented. These meetings include high-level University and CUSU committees.
Sport And Wellbeing Officer Coventry
They create success for Sports Clubs and their members in Coventry. They grow student participation in fitness activities.
The Sport And Wellbeing Officer leads 50+ Sports Clubs at Coventry. They work on facilities, fixtures, growing participation in Sport and wider Wellbeing issues.
You’ll be out regularly speaking to students to collect their views on issues that come up throughout the academic year, taking their thoughts on board and working together with students. You will also work on achieving the aims that you put in the manifesto and attending meetings making sure the student voice is heard.
Internationalisation And Culture Officer Coventry
They ensure arriving International students have the best introduction to a new place of learning. They celebrate the cultural diversity of students at Coventry.
Coventry University is an incredibly diverse institution with students joining from all over the world. This role involves representing the interests of these students and promoting a diverse and positive cultural experience for all students. This is an exciting year for the Internationalisation and Culture Officer, this role will play a key part in engaging students and CUSU in the City of Culture 2021.
You will be responsible for going out and speaking to students, finding out about their experience. You will run campaigns, events, and projects to engage and support this student community and support inter-cultural engagement between students. You will also work on achieving the aims of your manifesto and attending a variety of meetings. These meetings will range from attending the Students' Union Welfare and Inclusion Forum, working closely with the International Office and meeting with a range of local and national organisations.
