Autumn Election 2021

The Autumn Election for the positions of NUS Conference Delegates and Coventry University London Campus Officer

The polls have closed.

NUS Conference Delegate (Coventry) (5 places)

CUSU are looking for students to represent the entire CU Group at the NUS National Conference in Liverpool! This is the largest student conference in the United Kingdom and you could be a delegate. There are 7 places available or Coventry based students.

NUS National Conference delegates will:

  • Represent Coventry University Group students on behalf of Your Students’ Union at the NUS National Conference  
  • Act as a focal point to put your students' viewpoints onto the National Conference stage
  • Collect feedback from students across Coventry University Group in order to inform motions to take to conference 
  • Feedback on the outcomes and decisions made at NUS National Conference to Union Affairs and produce a short report to be publicised to students 

There are 12 delegate positions in total, of which 7 positions are reserved for self-defining women (as required by the NUS Gender Balancing Policy). 

One delegate position is reserved for a full time officer of the Students' Union. This position will act as the lead delegate

Four delegate positions are reserved for students from Coventry University London or CU London. 

Two delegate positions are reserved for students from CU Scarborough 

The remaining five delegate positions are for students from CU Coventry and Coventry University.

Your SU will provide travel, accommodation and an allowance for food for this event. 

Full training will also be provided.

CUSU are looking for London based students to represent the entire CU Group at the NUS National Conference in Liverpool! This is the largest student conference in the United Kingdom and you could be a delegate. There is 3 places available for CU London and Coventry University London campus students

NUS National Conference delegates will:

  • Represent Coventry University Group students on behalf of Your Students’ Union at the NUS National Conference

CUSU are looking for students from CU Scarborough to represent the entire CU Group at the NUS National Conference in Liverpool! This is the largest student conference in the United Kingdom and you could be a delegate. There is 1 place available for CU Scarborough students

Coventry University London Campus Officer

The Campus Officer is a volunteer who is the lead representative for all students at Coventry University London. They bring together the work of the Campus Executive Team and act as the primary spokesperson for all students at every level with the University, Students’ Union and wider community to ensure that everyone is represented and can shape their university experience. Duration of Role: 03/01/21 – 30/06/22

Terms

Role title: Coventry University London Campus Officer 

Role description 

This role is to represent the students at the campus of Coventry University London. You will act as the primary spokesperson for all students at the campus, at every level, working with the University, Students’ Union and wider community to ensure everyone is represented and has the opportunity to contribute to shape their student experience.

As a part time officer, you will:

  • Gather feedback from the student body and report any matters to the relevant student and university committees
  • Work with your SU staff lead and wider team in supporting with Student voice activity, ensuring quality is maintained, supported and developed
  • Build relationships and manage stakeholders to facilitate the improvement of the overall student experience at your campus bringing about positive change
  • Take part and lead in Students’ Union activities, events and campaigns on a campus, and group-wide, level
  • Plan for, and achieve, the aims and objectives you set within your manifesto
  • Be a key decision maker in a range of Students’ Union committee meetings, on behalf of the student body
  • Support with the promotion of Students’ Union activity through social media

You will be expected to share regular updates on progress made against your manifesto as well as wider work in the role with the student body.

Job outline:

  • The Role will run from 17 June 2024 until 31 May 2025. You must complete a minimum of a 6 month term in post, meaning that your current student status must run until at least 17 December 2024, for you to be eligible.
  • You must also be eligible to work in the UK for the entirety of your term in office.
  • You will be expected to work up to 10 hours per week. Your weekly hours must be agreed with your staff lead, in accordance with your manifesto and other duties required as part of the role.
  • At times, you may be required to work flexibly, this could include evenings and weekends.
  • You will be paid £10.83 per hour, plus paid holiday. London PTOs will be paid £12.40 per hour, plus paid holiday.
  • You will be subjected to Bye-Law 5, Student Leaders of the Union. You will also need to comply with the Students’ Union Articles of Association and any policies, rules and regulations, in line with other employees of the organisation.
