There is tons of creative fun for little hands and feet in this informal drop-in art session. Babies and toddlers will have the opportunity to explore various materials across the sessions including paint, glitter, paste, sand, clay, slimy spaghetti, chalk and much more. Messy play is an important element of early childhood development, appealing to children’s curiosity and helping them to understand the world through their senses. These sessions will also expose them to early mark making, enabling them to develop good concentration, muscle control and encourage their imaginations. Arrive anytime and be prepared to get messy!

Upcoming themes:
5 September – Arrival of Autumn – The countdown to autumn has arrived and with it comes an explosion of warm and golden colour. This month we will be making bird feeders, handprint hedgehogs, leaf printed trees and diving into woodland inspired sensory play trays.

3 October – Magic and Myths – Turn handprint paintings into fairy creatures, print with tin foil to make a mottled moon, make magical star wands and explore our sensory trays to make potions, practice mark making and get messy with jelly (gelatine free).

7 November – Lest We Forget – We’re focusing on Remembrance Day this month with poppy making using cupcake cases and handprints, making shiny gold and silver painted medals and filling our trays with red rice, mud and shredded paper.

5 December – Festive Fun – Join us for some very messy, festive fun and create handprint painted Christmas cards, unique gift bags, bubble wrap Christmas trees and ‘snow’ much more with fun with our sensory play filled tuff trays.

It is advisable that you and your child wear items of clothing that you are happy to risk getting paint on. Whilst the paint is water based it may stain if not washed out quickly. Many of our regular visitors have a dedicated 'messy' outfit for the purposes of enjoying this session to its fullest extent, with a spare outfit to change into afterwards.

Designed for age 0-4, but all are welcome
