About the event
The Women Students Community are happily hosting a visit from 'The Boobettes' @Coppafeel
Breast cancer is the most common cancer in the UK. One in seven women in the UK will develop breast cancer in their lifetime. Around 55,000 women and 370 men are diagnosed with breast cancer every year in the UK. Around a further 7,000 people are diagnosed with ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) each year.
It is therefore really important that students know how to check themselves for signs and symptoms. The talk will cover the Boobette’s personal story, breast cancer facts and myths, signs and symptoms, the work of CoppaFeel!, how we can remind you to start self-checking and guidance on how to self-check & you will have the chance to ask any questions and get some advice.
Remember, ALL GENDERS can be affected by breast cancer so we very much encourage the message that EVERYONE is welcome, to make sure everyone is equipped with this potentially life saving message.
ALSO !!!! We will be running a stall from 11-3pm in the Library where we will be raising money for Breast Cancer UK, and giving out some freebies and advice. The Boobettes will also be at the stall to answer any questions and hand out their awareness materials!
