The Gender Equality society have recently been taken over and are looking for members to join them with everything they have planned!

What does this society want to achieve & why should you join?

Having spoken to the new committee, they have said the following about what they plan to do, what they stand for and why you should join:

  • Our society is about pushing for gender equality, having the difficult conversations needed for that to happen and raising money through charity events for organisations which push for gender equality and to protect women in vulnerable situations around the world.
  •  We want to encourage people that their gender shouldn’t dictate what they can do, so we aim to get some inspirational people to give talks.
  •  We want to use our society to reach out to people and make them aware of the issues women face on a day to day basis. That help is available, that they are not alone and that it’s not their fault. This society gives women the opportunity to come forward and seek help by talking about what they are going through and sharing their experiences, without being judged. We want to make sure that everyone feels safe, comfortable and heard.
  •  We want to stand up to the oppression of of all people regardless of race, sexuality, disability, class, biological sex, gender identity etc. intersectional feminism is about understanding and acknowledging that people from different minorities will have had different challenges and experiences, and that we have to stand up for all marginalised groups not just one kind. The intermingling between people with different experiences is vital and race, sexuality, disability etc. can not be separated from the conversation on gender equality

If this has resonated with you in any way, or you feel like you want to help contribute to the amazing work they have planned then you can join for FREE by clicking here
