We are seeking an external Trustee to join the Board at Coventry University Students Union (CUSU).  We are a charity that focusses on giving students at Coventry University Group the best experience.  This is an incredibly exciting time to join us as this year we have developed a new strategy and constituiton to drive our next four years of success.

We encourage applications from all backgrounds, communities and industries, and are committed to having a team that is made up of diverse skills, experiences, backgrounds and abilities. Our current Board has a broad range of skills, although we have identified areas that would be highly advantageous for our new trustees to have appropriate expereinces. We actively encourage applicants who have skills in two or more of the following areas; Higher Education and Students’ Unions; Equity and Diversity; Marketing and Communications; Digital Development; Mental Health Support.

As a trustee you would ensure that the organisation is financially and legally secure and meets the requirements of the charity commission. It is also key that our new strategy meets the needs of our membership. You will also oversee and the financial sustainability of the Union. The role is voluntary, however any travel and subsistence costs will be paid.

The time commitment for this role is four (4) meetings a year, typically on Friday afternoons, with further opportunity to get involved in away days, training and sub-committees. If you are interested there is also the opportunity for sector wide events and training and celebration events.

You will have the satisfaction of being part of a team that has developed a successful students’ union. Successful applicants will have some understanding of a student led organisation and will wish to make a contribution to its continuing success.  Training relating for the role will be provided and you will get the opportunity to be involved in strategy and away days.

We are especially keen to encourage expressions of interest from people currently under-represented within the organisation, these include but are not limited to those from the LGBT+ community, people with disabilities, and those from a Black, Asian or Minority Ethnic background.
