COVID-19 Hardship Fund - Applications Now Open!

The COVID-19 outbreak has had a huge impact on many people, and caused a significant change in the way of life for many of our students. In response to the pandemic, the Office for Students (OFS) has allocated funding to universities to support students in financial hardship.

Full details can be found on the Student Funding pages of the student portal, along with detailed instructions on how to apply and a helpful guidance document.

If you would like support with your application form, you can book an appointment with the Students Union Advice Centre. Please ensure you state in your booking notes that the hardship fund is your reason for booking.

How to Apply for the Hardship Fund
  • You must be a current student enrolled on a Higher Education course in order to apply. The fund is to assist students to continue their study and therefore students whose courses have ended are not eligible to apply. If you have previously received a payment from the initial OfS Covid Hardship Fund, you can apply for this further OfS Covid Hardship Fund. Full eligibility can be found in the guidance document
  • In order to be considered, you will need to complete the application form. All applications are assessed by the Student Funding Team and will be awarded on a discretionary basis. You will need to demonstrate through appropriate evidence how you have suffered financial hardship as a result of COVID-19. You must submit (1) your completed application form and (2) required evidence using your University e-mail to funding.ss@coventry.ac.uk.
  • Funds are limited and will be distributed on a first come first serve basis to ensure a fair process and prioritise those in greatest need. There is no set closing date but we encourage early applications to avoid disappointment. Once the threshold has been passed and all funds have been distributed, finance will make an announcement that the COVID fund has been suspended and applications will no longer be accepted.
  • The OfS have stipulated that the funds should be paid to successful applicants by 31 July 2021. No funding awards will be made to students after this date.

If you do not believe that you qualify for this fund, there may be support available from other funds. Please see The Student Funding Portal page under ‘Support’ & ‘Student Funding’ for more information on the criteria and application process, or book an appointment with the Student Union Advice Centre for free, independent advice and support.
