We are almost halfway through the summer term but there are still opportunities coming up to help you with your employability. By working on your employability alongside your studies you can get additional skills, meet new people, create connections and receive additional recognition. Why not take a look below to see opportunities coming up that you can still get involved with!

 

On 16th June we are bringing back Alumnight, taking place from 5.30 pm in The Courtyard. This is a networking event and is a chance for you to develop key skills and meet new people.

This event is a great chance for you to-

  • Meet Alumni of Coventry University, finding out how they made the most of their time whilst studying and they can give an insight into what to expect after you graduate
  • Meet our Employability Experts who can give you advice and share opportunities
  • Meet like-minded students
  • Have a chance to think about how to prepare for graduating

This is a networking event meaning you will have plenty of opportunities to meet our Alumni and Employability Experts, ask questions, get advice and find out about opportunities

There are lots of volunteering opportunities available that you can still get involved with. Volunteering is a great way to meet new people, gain valuable skills such as team work and communication, as well as help to boost your CV.

You can see upcoming volunteering opportunities below-

16th June, 1pm-3pm, ‘I want to Volunteer- Post Pals’ The Hub. This is an one off volunteering opportunity where you can come along and make cards for seriously ill children and their families. You can pre-register for this event here

We have 2 opportunities this term for you to volunteer with British Heart Foundation. You will be helping to sort donations, which is vital support to help with the shop to raise funds-

  • The first is happening on 29th June and you can pre-register here
  • The second is happening 13th July and you can pre-register here

Finally, we also have 1 opportunity for you to go to the Coventry Food bank. You will support for a few hours helping to sort through donations and create packages. Transport to and from the food bank will also be included in this experience

By getting involved in various opportunities such as the above you can qualify for the Leadership Award. The CUSU Leadership Award recognises your involvement and activities within extracurricular activities whilst studying at Coventry University identifying the skills and experiences you have gained. This can be you volunteering, being a rep or being part of a sport or society.

By having a Leadership Award you can showcase the skills you have developed in a format that can be digitally viewed, as all successful applications will receive an e-certificate

Applications are now open from 30th May until 11th July 2022. This Award is recognised by employers, looks great on your CV, and can help distinguish you from other candidates.  For more information on Leadership award and to join upcoming workshops click here
