Volunteers' Week - What volunteering means to me

I can never get tired or bored of making a difference in people's lives.

As the saying goes: "We live because of the happy things. We live because there are people who love us, and people we love back. We live because we want to find out things that we would like to do. We live because others want us to, and we want them to live along with us."

Being a volunteer makes me feel that I value and care about the life of those in my surroundings and my communities.

Volunteering gives me joy and it pleases me when I hear the words, ‘thank you Marcus’ or ‘we are very satisfied with your service.’

Such words make me feel human. Something I have noticed after my volunteer work has been accomplished, is that I feel a heavy load has been taken off me and my stress has been lifted.

If I have been feeling angry or unhappy, once I’ve done some volunteering and get a simple ‘thank you’ in return, I feel joy and satisfaction.

As long as I have breath and I am able physically, I will always be available to give my services for nothing to whoever or wherever it is needed.
