Join us for our most exciting year yet!
We had so much fun as our second year as a society and we are looking forward to seeing lots of new faces joining us this year!
KPOP Dance Society is an inclusive community for people who share an interest in KPOP music, performance and culture, also known as the Hallyu Wave. KPOP stands for Korean Pop Music, which usually includes girl group and boy groups dancing while singing. While this mainstream music has become increasingly popular, other genres of music such as Hip-Hop, Indie and Ballad have also increasingly become famous and therefore we will also be dancing in complimentary to these music genres.
(Our first ever session, October 2017)
(The first session of our second year, October 2018)
During our weekly dance lessons, we cover a range of different dance styles from a wide variety of KPOP artists such as BTS, BLACKPINK, Twice, Chunga, Jay Park etc. We teach dances for everyone from beginners to experienced dancers. Members will have the chance to attend master classes taught by guest choreographers, compete in national competitions and take part in special events such as ‘Running Man’, hosted at home and other universities. We also run social events like ice skating, food socials at a range of restaurants, karaoke and more regularly to allow members to socialize and share their love for KPOP. KDSCU recently collaborated with event organisers to host exclusive club nights
Our members also receive 10% off at Jinseons Korean BBQ Resturant in Coventry city centre! Book a table today! https://www.jinseon.co.uk/menu
Socials we've held this year include:
(UK KPOP University Nationals, Reading University, December 2018)
Aims & objectives:
1. First KPOP based dance society- we want to get people involved and participating, by providing classes two days per week.
2. Organise shows and collaborate with other universities as well as societies within the university to perform or compete.
3. Attend events/concerts/trips, and invite guest choreographers, if possible.
4. Encourage a healthy lifestyle while having fun.
5. Create an inclusive community feeling for everyone where they can meet and share their passion for the art of KPOP with each other.
