Nepalese Society

The purpose of our society is to share our Nepalese culture with the rest of Students and staff members in Coventry. Our society goes by the name of NSCU, which stands for Nepalese Society Coventry University. We believe that no matter wherever you are around the world, we should be proud to promote and share our culture with everyone. This is why we welcome everyone to join Nepalese society, whether you are Nepalese or not.

Our Aims are to:

  • Have regular events
  • Expand the society
  • Have communications throughout the society
  • Promote Nepali culture, dance, food etc

Weekly Activities:

  • Badminton
  • Football match
  • Dance

Seasonal Activities:

  • Dashain / Tihar
  • Laser quest
  • Momo event
  • Games night
  • Acoustic night
  • BBQ event
  • Potluck / Karaoke night

Last year we had three events where we made a traditional Nepalese dish, known as Momo. In the last semester we had another get together to have popular Nepalese street food called Chatpate & BBQ to round off the year.

Our biggest event last year has to be the charity night that we dedicated to an organisation called Child Reach, which helps children from trafficking. We had a lot of performances that night, singers and dancers who helped us raise quite a lot of money. We have a really good partnership with Nepalese societies in universities in Birmingham with whom we organised the event with. For 2018/19 we are looking to work with them in new events such as sporting events.

We would like to invite you to join our society, to share our culture and have fun with us. We promise you that you will not be disappointed. We hope to see you soon.
