About Physiotherapy
Who are we?
Coventry University Physiotherapy Society is fun and an inclusive society to help members create unforgettable moments at university and to promote every member's personal and professional growth. We love welcoming new members to our group!
What do we do?
The Physiotherapy Society organises different types of events through the year, such as socials, guest speaker events, sports massage and sport taping qualifications and a trip abroad. Socials in previous years have included bar crawls with a theme / annual Christmas party / Halloween party / nights out with a theme. For our guest speaker events, we invite someone to come to the university to talk to us about something related to physiotherapy. For example, we have had a sports physio come to speak to us and a speaker event on dementia. Also, every year we try to run a sport massage and sports taping course that can help you in the future / set up your own small business. If we get enough interest, we try to organise a trip abroad in the holidays to create some unforgettable moments.
Why should you join?
Physio students (as well as students studying other healthcare subjects or students who have a keen interest in physio / anatomy / healthcare) should join to experience a new part of university life, meet new friends with similar interests and to help promote your professional growth! The Physiotherapy Society has helped connect all physiotherapy students across all 3 years of the BSc course, which can come very handy when approaching exam season!
We are all friendly individuals that want to make university life memorable and create a space that is safe and fun for all students that want to join!
What have we done in the past?
An annual highlight that every physio society member loves is our society christmas party! This night involves raising money for a chosen charity as well as it being a great night to celebrate the end of the semester.
Another highlight was our trip aborad to Amsterdam in the easter of 2019. This trip gave us lots of free time to explore the city with our friends and a chance to go to the bodyworks museum - a physio student must have! Unfortuantely our trip to Amsterdam in the easter of 2020 was cancelled due to Covid-19, however we know it would have been bigger and better than the previous trip!
Awards and Recognition
The Physiotherapy Society is a very new society! Due to this, we have not yet won an internal university award however we are hoping to change that this year!
However, we were nominated for an external award. We were nominated for the '2020 Student Contribution Award' by the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP)
