Ultimate Frisbee is a fun and fast paced sport which is self officiated and can be played indoors (5 a-side) or outdoors (7 a-side). Matches can be either Men’s, Women's or Mixed which allows for a wide range of tournaments and events to attend. The aim of the game is to catch the frisbee into the end zone to score points, essentially it is a mix of American Football and Netabll but with a disc.
The club will again be involved in BUCS games for 2019/20. 2015/16 saw the club compete at BUCS for the first time ever, ultimately finishing second in the league, and reaching the Conference Cup semi-finals. This, as well as our improved performances at Varsity and other tournaments, saw the club awarded 'Best Small Club' at the CUSU Sports Ball for 2015/16. The 2018/19 season saw the Men’s 1st team finish 3rd in the league, winning 7 games out of 9, with the aim for next season to finish in the top half of the league. Furthermore our mixed team went unbeaten outdoors! The mixed team also had 3 podium finishes at indoor events including a victory! At Men’s indoor regionals 2018, the first team finished 13th and the second team finished 16th.
The club will again be involved in BUCS games for 2017/18. 2015/16 saw the club compete at BUCS for the first time ever, ultimately finishing second in the league, and reaching the Conference Cup semi-finals. In addition to BUCS and Varsity, the clubs also regularly signs up to and attends tournaments, across one or two weekend days, indoors and out throughout the year, members are encouraged to sign up for as many or few of these events as they wish, which range from beginner tournaments, to regionals.
The most important objective at Coventry University Ultimate is that our members enjoy themselves. Members are allowed to attend as many, or as few training sessions as they wish (though those wishing to compete at a higher level - or at all - will need to be committed to more training each week), without worrying about being dropped from the team.
To us, every member is part of our team, regardless of experience and we do not have various ‘team tiers’, everyone has the same potential to be on tournament, BUCS, and Varsity teams if that is what they want to do.
The club also has a weekly social night, as well as clubs events throughout the year.
