We offer a sitting/befriending service to Carers and isolated people across the local area
This opportunity is ongoing, with no end date.
To visit an elderly person living alone who are lonely and isolated. The volunteer will visit for an hour or two every week or fortnight, depending on what you want.
The volunteers role is to provide companionship and the social support of a friend over a chat and a cup of tea.
The work we do offers a rewarding sense of satisfaction and you will be helping people in your local community.
All volunteers have references taken and are DBS checked to enhanced level.
The volunteers do not do any personal care, give medication or lifting. They are their as a friend.
Hours per week
An hour or two every week or fortnight.
At the introduction between a volunteer and person they are visiting an initial follow up date and time is arranged. If both parties are in agreement this can be flexible.
We do not offer any compulsory training. If an opportunity for training does arise ie. Dementia/First Aid our volunteers are given an opportunity to take part in the course.

Just an hour or two of your time can make such a difference to an elderly person who is lonely and isolated.
Some volunteers choose to use their own cars to take people out, to do this we ensure that the volunteer has notified their car insurers to cover them for this type of activity.
There is no length of time commitment from volunteers.
We are happy for our volunteers to contact us by phone/text/email if they require any support or guidance.
Support for Carers will reimburse fuel costs at 38p per mile.
