Form Filling Support Volunteer

This opportunity takes place from 09 Mar 2021.

As a form filling volunteer, you will be working with clients to complete benefit claim forms by appointment. This will include claims and reviews for Personal Independence Payment, Child Disability Living Allowance, Work Capability Assessments for Universal Credit and Employment and Support Allowance, Attendance Allowance and Blue Badge application forms. All relevant training and support will be given, with casework supervision, file reviews and feedback conducted by the Benefits Advice Manager. You will gain knowledge and skills on how to support clients to engage with social care issues.

Main Responsibilities 

  • Interviewing client, mainly by telephone, to gather information needed to complete their form. 

  • Manage client casefiles, using our database.  

  • Sending out appointment letters to client  

  • Scanning and uploading forms and other documents onto client’s casefiles  

  • Follow up calls; supporting clients by making sure they have posted out their forms and following up on claim outcomes. 

  • Attending form filling training and subject based training, to keep knowledge up to date.

We can be flexible regarding hours. However a commitment of approx 3 hours a week is required.

Training available

We offer a comprehensive induction training including equality and diversity; safeguarding; confidentiality. We also further training on form filling and an overview of welfare benefits.

Benefits to self

Gaining knowledge and skills in advice services. Being able to engage with people dealing with issue around poverty and debt. Developing confidence and being able to provide information and complete forms on a range of welfare benefits issues with vulnerable clients across the city.

Support

All volunteers are given supervision and regular reviews. Volunteers are also given support by the advisers.
