Coventry Independent Advice Service is a charity offering free advice, information and support to Coventry residents.
Money Advice Support Volunteer
This opportunity takes place from 09 Mar 2021.
As a money advice support assistant you will be working alongside debt advisors and offering triage support through debt initial enquires. Providing initial information, guidance and signposting and supporting our clients to carry out assisted debt self help ,supporting clients dealing with poverty and debt. Other administration work such as scanning and organising paperwork as requested by the money advisors. You will gain knowledge and skills on how to support clients to engage with the social care issues such as debt.
Carry out initial contact and gathering information to complete the debt enquiry template via telephone, email and webchat and inputting onto our database
Helping with letters to creditors
Completing Charity and Trust Fund Applications e.g. Coventry General Charities
Getting copies of credit reference files
Providing support to clients who are working with on -line providers e.g. National Debt Line
Scanning and organising paperwork e.g. Creditor Letters and proof of income
Adding and updating creditor information on our database
Following up calls- supporting clients by e.g. following up on any progress with creditors
We can be flexible regarding hours. However a commitment of approx 3 hours is essential.
We offer a comprehensive induction training including equality and diversity; safeguarding; confidentiality. We also further training on the overview of welfare benefits. Training on debt will also be covered.

Flexible but reliability and commitment is essential
All volunteers are given supervision and regular reviews.
Volunteers are also given support and work with debt advisers or office based staff.
All travel and lunch expenses are reimbursed.
