Introduce Yourself

I'm Mahbub, and I'm thrilled to introduce myself as your Campus Officer at Coventry University London. Currently in my final year, I'm pursuing a degree in Global Business and Management. I am embarking on my third stint as Coventry University London Campus Officer after successfully serving in this role for the past two years, and I'm excited to continue making a positive impact on our campus.

What is a Campus Officer?

The Campus Officer is the main person who speaks for all students at Coventry University London. Every year, students vote to choose the Campus Officer and they talk on behalf of all students in different places like the University, Students' Union, and the local community.

My job is to make sure that every student's voice is heard and that they can have a say in how their university experience goes. I work closely with Course Reps, student groups, and staff from the Students' Union and the University. But any student can reach out to me if they have a question or an idea they want to share.

What do you bring to this role?

Over the past two years, I've built a commendable reputation for effectively representing and advocating for students like you at all levels. With my experience, I hope to inspire and set an example for future officers, ensuring a continued focus on your needs and interests.

Beyond my role as Campus Officer, I'm actively involved in the academic community. As a valued member of the University's Academic Board, which is the highest-level academic committee at Coventry University London, I work alongside the Senior Leadership Team and esteemed academic staff to shape the strategic direction of teaching, learning, and student experience at the university.

Additionally, I'm proud to be a member of the Quality in Learning and Teaching Committee (QUILT). This committee plays a crucial role in monitoring the university's performance in teaching, learning, and assessment strategies. As a committee member, I'm dedicated to maintaining high academic standards and ensuring a positive student experience on campus.

Moreover, I'm part of the Student Experience Committee, which includes representatives from all Coventry Group Campuses. This committee is instrumental in evaluating university policies, gathering and representing student feedback, and collaborating with stakeholders to enhance the overall student experience. Advocating for your interests and fostering a supportive and inclusive environment on Coventry University London are central to my work in this committee.

What do you do outside of Uni?

Outside of my university commitments, I'm passionate about pursuing a career in Higher Education. I actively engage and collaborate with external organizations involved in Higher Education to learn and develop my skills. My work in the field of mental health has had a national impact, drawing from my personal experiences. I'm dedicated to addressing mental health issues faced by students on campus, as I understand the significant impact it can have on your university experience. In my personal life, I find joy in playing cricket, listening to podcasts and TED Talks, and spending quality time with my friends and family.

As an international student, I've had amazing chances to network with people from various sectors and maximize the use of campus available resources. Through my experiences, I've identified common challenges faced by international students like me, such as homesickness, language barriers, adapting to different educational systems, and culture shock. Recognizing the significance of creating an inclusive environment, I believe it's crucial to foster opportunities for students to connect and engage with one another. Understanding this throughout the year, I'm here to assist you in shaping your university experience by addressing your concerns, running campaigns, organizing events, and implementing improvements on campus.

How can I get in touch?

You can find me at Your Students' Union office, or you're welcome to attend my weekly drop-in session on Thursdays at 12:00 PM. Alternatively, you can reach out to me via email at ad9620@coventry.ac.uk.

And remember, if you spot me anywhere on campus, don't hesitate to say Hi! I'm truly excited to meet all of you and look forward to making your university experience truly memorable.
