Our friends over at WM Police have alerted us to the current rise in the selling and using of vapes that contain illegal substances such as cannabis and THC. THC is the part of the cannabis plant that makes you feel “high”. However, there are currently increased cases of users of THC vapes experiencing concerning symptoms such as foaming at the mouth, aggression, having seizures and becoming unconscious. This is particularly common among vapers that are college and university student age and is both a local and national concern. Police would like to remind all students to:  

• If you vape, be mindful of where you get your vape cartridges from and whether you know exactly what’s in them.  

• If you or anyone you are with starts displaying symptoms such as foaming at the mouth, sudden aggressive behaviour or having a seizure, these should be treated as an emergency and an ambulance should be called immediately by dialling 999.   

• If anyone has any information regarding the sale of THC-spiked vapes, the police would like to know. You can report any concerns through the live webchat or by calling 101. When reporting, please quote the phrase ‘operation potterwheel’ so that information gets to the right people as soon as possible.
