Three Sport Coventry teams have successfully advanced to the semi-finals of the BUCS Midlands Conference Cup. Badminton M1 narrowly defeated Nottingham M4 in a closely contested match, edging out the competition with 292 points over 256 points, after splitting the four rubbers and eight games each. Badminton M1, currently sat in second place in their league rankings, will face Nottingham Trent M1 in the next round of the cup, hoping to set up a showdown with either NTU M2 or Nottingham M3s at the finals.

Tennis W1 also secured a spot in the semi-finals with a convincing 4-2 win over Birmingham W3. The team saw spectacular performances from Sonia Caldironi (6/3, 6/2) and Coventry University Sports Scholars Darja Maslova (6/0, 6/1) and Janali Manemperi (6/0, 6/1), who saw off their opponents with quick sets to advance to the next round. Tennis awaits the winners of the Birmingham W1 and Warwick W2 in the semi-finals on 21st February.

Last but not least of our semi-finalists is our Women's Volleyball team, who will face Leicester W1 at home in the conference semi-finals in a match-up that will showcase the league leaders for Tier 2A and 2B respetively. Coventry has only suffered one loss through the season whilst Leicester is currently undefeated this year. Coventry will be looking to end the Leicester winning streak in what promises to be an entertaining conference semi-final next Wednesday (21/02). The winner will book their ticket to BUCS Big Wednesday on 6th March, hosted at University of Birmingham.

In non-BUCS related news, our Karting club has picked off right where they left off last season, with fantastic achievements for in the opening rounds of British University Karting Championship’s Mains & Inters Championships in PF International. 🏁 Coventry’s A team won three races scoring maximum points, coupled with a round one win - a rare feat - to finish third overall on the day. Coventry’s E team finished 2nd on the Clubman podium, this was a very successful event for the club. Despite mechanical problems, challenging weather and getting caught in accidents, Coventry's B, C and D teams also put out great performances at PFI.

Whilst the following week in Buckmore Park did not bring as much shine as PFI, the club saw encouraging performances from all teams and look to get back on the podium on 6th March at Warden Law, Sunderland.

Our Archery club hosted their leg of the TOUCAN League on Saturday 12th February, and finished with a gold in experienced recurve men, Experienced Compound, and Novice Recurve. The club also secured a silver medal in Experienced Barebow, Novice Team and Non-Compound Team as well as a bronze medal in Experienced Barebow. Club Captain, Liz Taplin, described the day as "very successful." We'd agree!

Well done to everyone involved!
