Candidate for the position of School of Life Sciences Education Rep

SARA ALMAHMOUD

Given the opportunity to become the HLS school representative I would live and breathe the role, this is evident as I have been a course rep for the past year and this is where I knew that I am a part of something bigger where I get to make a difference.

Working with the UNA (United Nations Association) as an Ambassador on influential projects that I have always advocated heightened my urge to pursuit these causes and gave me a better understanding on how to handle problems whilst finding a tailored solution. Furthermore, not only my verbal communication and organisational skills has elevated through delivering workshops to ambassadors that I recruited with the secretary but also while dealing with distinguished guest speakers and the press. My connection with the UNA also allowed me to develop a bridge between them and the UN society at the university where I have become the acting Vice president to the society this made me deal more in depth with CUSU.

In my opinion as much as its important to have new ideas, it would mean nothing without people’s trust. CUSU is a great platform for building the trust we need to move forward however when implementing better techniques to approach students for their feedback we will be able to have better reliable results.

Lastly, I would like to thank you for giving the time to read my personal statement and I’m truly grateful to be nominated knowing how hard it can be for recruiting I wish you the best and hope it went well as you expected.
