HO YIN CHAN

As a course rep in Aerospace Technology BEng, I have familiarised myself with the intricate and elaborate communication channels within the school and faculty, bearing in mind that the communication channels work both ways. Through course forums and other committees I am part of, I have always strived to broker a fair agreement between staff and students. Having settled disagreements between the two parties as a course rep, my final goal has been and will remain to produce an outcome in the best interest of the students’ experience in the faculty. Considering how far a student’s opinion must travel until it is finally brought to the attention of appropriate members of staff with enough influence to make a difference, representatives are not always successful in negotiating a satisfactory outcome for their peers. Should I advance onto the role as your school rep for MAA, I would take it as my responsibility to continue to voice out all concerns and keep the communication channel between staff and students active, as my predecessors have done. Most importantly, make sure all concerns are raised through forums and the correct channels are processed correctly without bias.
