My name is Roxanna Hands, but everybody calls me Roxy. I am currently a second-year student midwife. I have been a course rep for the last two years and am looking forward to progressing to senior course rep in my third year. Before becoming a student midwife, I was a manager in the restaurant trade. I managed my team well professionally and on a personal level, in which they were able to approach me with any problems. I also attended many district meetings within the trade and reported them back to my business with the intention of improvement. I feel this makes me a suitable candidate for this role. From this experience I would like to think of myself as approachable, respectful, outgoing and empathetic. I think these skills have enhanced in me since becoming a student midwife and representative of my cohort. If I was given the role I would like to improve the student’s engagement with the rep system. I feel it is such a useful system and would be more so if it was used to the full capacity by all the students who have issues that need addressing.
