I am a first-year student, studying BSc Psychology and Criminology, running for the role of HLS School rep.
The main reason for this is that as many of the courses had been restructured for the 2017/18 academic year, I feel someone that has experienced this new layout is needed to provide a voice and bridge the gap between students and staff. I would like to be that voice.

I regard myself as a sociable individual and as a first-year myself, I understand it can be daunting to approach a member of staff, be that for course-related or personal issues. Because of this I believe I can offer empathy and approachability to my peers, ensuring their concerns are heard.

I want to develop a more honest and transparent line of communication between students and faculty and will utilise social media to do so. Instead of only relaying complaints to staff, I want to encourage proactivity and discussion between students to offer our own solutions, and ensure we achieve the outcome we want.

Ultimately, I want to be seen as a friendly face with the aim of improving student experience and welfare, connecting with students in all areas of HLS.
