Men's Football will be holding our annual trials day at the beginning of Semester 1 of the 2019/20 academic year. The exact date is TBC, but be sure to follow us on all of our social media channels to keep up to date!
After two successful trials days last season in September and January, we saw over 400+ players try out and recruited over 50 new members during this process. If you want to be involved in football on a competitive basis then be sure to sign up to our upcoming trials.
How to sign up: sign in to CUSU using your uni email and password, add the trials button to your basket and proceed to checkout
Date: Sunday 17th November
Time: 8.30am till 10am
Venue: Sidney Sidney Academy
If you were unsuccessful during the trials process do not be disheartened or just want to have a kick about, we run Social Football sessions on a pay and play basis every Saturday afternoon during term time, 1-2.30pm, at Sidney Stringer School. Throughout the season the Club typically recruits 10-15 players from these sessions to become Men's Football members. We encourage everyone who attends to arrive 15 minutes early in order to complete the necessary paperwork and payment.
ABOUT MEN'S FOOTBALL
Coventry University Men’s Football Club offers a variety of platforms of football for students, from our elite BUCS teams to our development teams to social football.
Currently, we have 5 BUCS teams which compete against other university teams in the Midlands area on Wednesday afternoons, both in league and cup competitions. In addition, we also have 1 development team who competitively participate in the Birmingham FA inter-university league on a weekly basis.
Moreover, the season 2015-16 was our most successful season to date for us as a club. We accumulated our highest ever BUCS points tally (54) and also our highest ever overall BUCS finish (21st). We take enormous pride in our achievements from all of ours seasons and on top of this we participated in the annual Varsity event vs. Warwick University, where we dominated.
Following on, our achievements were attained by triumphing in two cup competitions, the Midlands Conference Cup and Midlands Conference Plate. Our 1s clinched the league title on a dramatic final day ending, whilst our 2s, 3s and 5s narrowly missed out on promotion. The 4s sadly were beaten to survival in their league, after their previous seasons league win. Additionally, our development team dominated their league and cup competitions where they achieved a top 2 finish.
CUFC members are expected to be the hardest workers on the pitch, this comes through dedication to our training regime. We train on Monday evenings (7:00-8:30/8:30-10), with 2 strength conditioning sessions falling on Monday mornings and every other Friday morning.
Here at Coventry Men’s Football Club we strive to be competitive, successful and aim to help develop all of our members both on and off the pitch: the Student-Athlete. We aim to make sure all members of our club feel welcome to join in all aspects of our programme, from training to social events to fundraisers.
We are always looking for any help possible, so if you would like to get involved and volunteer, whether that be in coaching, officiating, or other formats, please contact us via our social media accounts as listed above! #TwistandShout #CUFC
