Community Outreach Support

Role Summary The main role of the outreach lead is to work with external organisations (including but not exclusive to schools, community centres, universities, businesses, religious organisations). Through working with external organisations an outreach lead is expected to book workshops, assign volunteers, discuss possible collaborations.

Key Tasks

Whilst volunteering with the Be Free Campaign, these are some of the tasks we would expect you to be able to complete.
These include but are not exclusive to:

  1. Assigning volunteers to attend workshops/talks that have been booked in advance

  2. Contacting organisations and responding to organisations with the aim of carrying

    out the Be Free Campaign’s charitable objectives

  3. Working with the Board of Directors and Mental Health Professionals to update our

    workshop content.

  4. Engaging within a team of volunteers who work together to carry out tasks in the

    best interest of the charity.

  5. Working with senior managers and mental health professionals to train volunteers

    to deliver workshops.

  6. Attending meetings with managers of the Be Free Campaign in which charitable

    development and opportunities are created.

  7. Co-ordinate specific project and manage the on-going activities to include liaising

    with volunteers and other stakeholders (including the local authority) to identify

    opportunities to run sessions and aid in contacting them.

  8. Whilst volunteering yourself, support and supervise participants volunteering to

    support activities during charitable activities.

  9. Co-ordinate volunteers

    1. - Ensure that there is an adequate number of volunteers for each activity/session and aid in the recruitment process

    2. Support and supervise volunteers

    3. Ensure that all volunteers are aware of Be Free Campaign policies and

      procedures and have received appropriate training to be able to participate in activities safely

d. Ensure that all volunteers are aware of the roles and locations they will be volunteering in

  1. Maintain regular communication with all volunteers, fellow Project Leaders, board members and work collegiately with all

  2. Be responsible, along with the other volunteers for the safety and welfare of participants whilst attending/leading volunteer sessions and ensure that you follow any instructions set out

  3. Aid in the management of the project budget, if appropriate

  4. Complete all necessary paperwork and provide updates to supervisors

  5. Inform the Supervisor or Board member immediately of any problems, concerns or

    incidents regarding the project, and work with them to resolve any issues

  • -  The Be Free Campaign works with volunteers to ensure that they understand the expected commitment

  • -  We expect volunteers to understand the roles and tasks required and therefore apply only if they feel they can offer their time.

Hours details

The hours that a volunteer commits can be flexible and negotiated depending on the role.

Training available

- Our training programme consists of 3 layers. Our first layer being NHS Health Education England E-learning. Alongside this world-leading mental health training programme, all of our volunteers gain access to a Level 2 safeguarding certificate for children. Our volunteers also get training in person or online by one of our team.

Time commitment

We expect a minimum term of 1 year in order for us to best utilise our financial donations.

Support

Supervision meetings will take place with a member of our team and this will ensure that the DEBRIEF method of reflection occurs post every workshop. At no point will volunteers be left alone to volunteer at a session without a member of the Be Free Campaign team.
