Applying for an Education School Rep or Senior Course Rep position?

These positions are limited so once you have applied you will be contacted to arrange an interview for the role should there be a position available. Successful candidates will recieve full training for their role.

Applying for a Course Rep position?

You can apply for a Course Rep position all year round. Anyone who is interested can apply and there is no interview process. Once you have submitted your application we will contact you to complete your training. It's that simple!

It's Competition Time

All you have to do is promote the role of a Rep to other students on your course using our application link: www.coventry.ac.uk/rep-application. When they sign up they just need to quote your name in the 'Did someone recommend you for this role' section and we'll announce the winner once the competition closes on 25th March 2021. You must have signed up as a Rep to win so don't forget to submit an application yourself.

Rep Term

The Rep term runs from September to September, so if your course started in a different month you will still need to reapply to continue to be a Rep from September onwards.

All Student Voice Meeting have two Senior Rep vacancies: Senior Rep Chair and Senior Rep Minute Taker. Please check the 'Senior' box on the application form and you will be contacted via e-mail with an interview appointment.?

Please enter the Course and Year of Study you will be enrolled in from September to this forthcoming September.

If your course is not listed please still apply and select 'Course Not Listed'. Then e-mail reps.su@coventry.ac.uk with the name of your course.

You cannot make two applications, for example, one for Course Rep and one for Senior Rep. If your Senior Rep application is unsuccessful you will automatically become a Course Rep. PLEASE ONLY FILL THIS FORM IN ONCE. If you'd like to upgrade your original Course Rep application to a Senior Course Rep application then please e-mail reps.su@coventry.ac.uk.

What do Reps do?

Education School Rep (Volunteer payment up to £300 a semester)

  • Building relationships with staff within their School and CUSU
  • Mentoring Senior Course Reps, giving them direction as well as providing support and guidance for how they motivate their Course Reps teams
  • Attending University Committee Meetings and CUSU Rep events
  • Playing an active role in working groups within their School and Faculty
  • Maintaining good relationships with CUSU leadership team including Sabbatical Officers, Faculty Officers and other School Reps
  • Providing updates on their School at CUSU committees such as Education Forum and contributing to the discussion between meetings
  • Taking feedback gathered from students and Reps, using it to push for change using focus and working groups within their School or Faculty
  • Providing peer support to students including using online platforms such as Vygo
  • Disseminating information from their School, Faculty or CUSU to Reps and the wider student body in their School
  • Initiatives to improve communication with students within their School
  • Supporting the recruitment of Reps for their School
  • Providing content for the CUSU website
  • Updating and responding to messages within their Student Voice Team
  • Completing training sessions for their role

Senior Course Rep (Volunteer payment of up to £100)

  • Building relationships with staff within their Student Voice Channel grouping and CUSU
  • Mentoring Course Reps, giving them direction to the feedback they should be gathering and managing their engagement
  • Playing an active role in working groups within their School and Faculty
  • Maintaining good relationships with their Education School Rep
  • Disseminating information from their Student Voice Channel grouping or CUSU to Reps and the wider student body in their School
  • Supporting recruitment of Reps for their Student Voice Channel
  • Providing content for the CUSU website
  • Administrating their Student Voice Forum Channel on Teams, ensuring Course Reps upload feedback they have gathered
  • Continuously updating their Action Log within Teams with feedback and actions
  • Chasing responses to feedback and any actions that are outstanding
  • Closing the feedback loop by promoting wins or changes to Course Reps and the wider student body within their Student Voice Channel
  • Attend relevant CUSU events
  • Completing training sessions for their role

Course Reps (Voluntary)

  • Gathering constructive feedback from students on their course
  • Raising feedback that has been gathered on their Student Voice Channel
  • Closing the feedback loop by promoting any wins or changes to students on their course
  • Playing an active role in working groups relating to their School, Faculty or University campus
  • Maintaining good relationships with their Senior Course Rep
  • Disseminating information from your Student Voice Channel grouping or CUSU to Reps and to students on their course
  • Supporting recruitment of Reps for your Student Voice Channel
  • Attending events related to their Rep role
  • Completing training for their role
