FAQs

I didn’t disclose my disability in my application, can I still do that?

Yes. You can disclose a disability or long term health condition at any point during your course. You will need to provide us with diagnostic evidence that confirms your disability or long term health condition. How can I make sure support is in place for me when I arrive/start my course?

The best way to ensure support is in place for you is speaking with a disability advisor. Before we can make any adjustments or arrange support, you will need to provide us with diagnostic evidence that confirms your disability or long term health condition.

As a disabled student you are entitled to apply for the Disabled Students Allowance (DSA), a government supported fund that provides support and equipment to university students. If you would like to find out more watch this YouTube clip before clicking here to apply.

 

Can I access disability support if I’m not on campus?

Yes. We are offering remote appointments to students using Microsoft Teams or by the telephone. You can let us know how you would like to be contacted when you make your appointment. You can also email for general information - disabilityadvisor.ss@coventry.ac.uk

 

Will individual exam arrangements still be available remotely? How do I arrange them?

Yes. You will need to make an appointment with a Disability Advisor to arrange your Individual Exam Arrangements.

PLEASE NOTE – There is a deadline for submitting Individual Exam Arrangements, so we recommend you make an appointment to arrange this as soon as possible.

 

Is there support available for other assessments such as coursework?

Yes. This will depend on you individual needs and whether or not you are in receipt of Disabled Students Allowance. If you are unsure what support is available to you, we recommend you book an appointment with us so we can guide you through all the support available.

 

I have practical elements to my course that require me to be on campus, but I am clinically vulnerable/shielding, what can I do?  

If you are clinically venerable or are shielding as a result of your disability or long term health condition, we advise that you should contact your course team and a disability advisor as soon as possible. We will work closely with the course team and the student to come up with suitable adjustments to suit their needs.

 

I’m concerned about the physical changes made to campus, is it still accessible? Will there be support in place to help me orientate myself?  (Personal Evacuation Plans revision/Marshals etc)
